Dealing with Covid-19

Transport and logistics (amongst other industry’s) has been a saving grace for the world over the past few months. They have ensured that everyone was still able to make their weekly food shops and purchase essentials whilst staying home and keeping safe. The demand for the transportation of goods has undoubtedly had a staggering increase, as has the workload for a lot of these companies! This is where Westexe can assist…

A key component to the success of goods being shipped efficiently is having good materials handling equipment on site. People still need to operate their forklift trucks, powered pallet trucks, stackers and list goes on! So, during the UK’s lock down period, Westexe was open for business whilst operating with only a select few “hardcore warriors” as they liked to call themselves. We still had sales trucks going out, engineers on site to mend equipment and Westexe Direct delivering various products across the UK. Of course, the protection and safety of our staff, customers and their families was imperative so we issued extreme safety precautions to prevent the spread of the virus.

What we as a company have taken from this situation is that you can never be too prepared. In the time where other businesses have slowed down, its allowed some time to think about the future and how to be more qualified for such eventualities. Investing in good quality equipment that is guaranteed to work without problems or issues is vital – whether that’s a new forklift truck or just a hand pallet truck, it doesn’t matter, just to know you have reliable equipment on site that’ll never inhibit your operation. We’ve also realised working with the right businesses that you can rely on is essential. This was a key factor to Westexe as we have a number of suppliers for parts and consumables which were fundamental to us being able to fix and maintain equipment that was being used on the forefront of some key businesses keeping the country going.

Going forward, we want to reach out to new businesses that we don’t currently look after and see to it that you are being supported properly!
